Pasadena Periodontics, the practice of periodontist Dr. Joel Henriod, occupies a Spanish-revival building in Pasadena. The architecture does real work here: vaulted ceilings lined with dark wood beams, deep arched windows in black steel frames, clerestory light, and a heavy wood entry door that opens straight into the main lounge.
Rather than fight the building, the design lets the Spanish-revival envelope lead — and repeats its arch everywhere. The practice logo sits in an arched plaster niche, the consultation room is reached through an arched glass door, and black-framed arch details carry into the front office. Furnished more like a residence than a clinic, the lounge trades waiting-room rows for cane armchairs, a deep-blue sofa, and a glass coffee table under the chandelier.
White plaster walls against dark stained beams, wide-plank wood floors, and black steel window frames form the shell. The furnishings soften it: cane-and-black seating with cream cushions, glass-and-iron tables, patterned rugs, and iron chandeliers. A stacked-stone accent wall warms the consultation room, while clinical spaces keep the palette quiet with putty-toned cabinetry and crisp white counters.
Patients step through the wood door into a chandelier-lit lounge beneath the vaulted beams, with a refreshment bar waiting under the arched logo wall. The front office sits open to the room rather than behind a partition. From there, a wood-floored corridor leads past the arched glass door of the consultation room to the treatment rooms beyond — where the same putty-and-white palette keeps the clinical side of the visit as composed as the arrival.
