The setting

An upper-level suite on Alessandro Place in Pasadena, with wide windows opening onto palms and treetops on nearly every side. The practice belongs to Dr. Dien Sun, a board-certified pediatric dentist.

The concept

A love letter to the California landscape, scaled for kids. Desert and coastal murals wrap the open treatment bays, a rainbow-arch rug anchors the waiting nook, and repeated arches, sunrise wallpaper, and a palm-and-poppy palette carry the practice's name through every room — playful without tipping into cartoon.

Materials & palette

Dusty-blue cabinetry and pale blue doors against warm oak floors and slat-wood screens; peach sunrise-print wallpaper, navy hexagon and green geometric tile, white counters with matte-black fittings. Overhead, scalloped rattan pendants; underfoot, that rainbow rug; and marigold-yellow chairs that echo the sun in the murals.

The experience

Families arrive to a wood-front reception desk beneath the practice logo, and kids head straight for the iPad bar — tablets lined along a low ledge with little red stools on the rainbow rug. Treatment happens inside the murals: open bays for routine visits, private operatories for quieter ones, each chair facing a window or a ceiling-mounted screen. Even the brushing stations and the green-tiled restroom keep the palette going.
